Next 2 days - Lake District

The next couple of days were spent wandering around the Lake District as much as possible. The weather was rain, rain and torrential rain. Everybody who wasn’t a mad fell-walker was visiting museums, etc which meant they kept dry. Because of the teeny, tiny car parking spaces this meant we didn’t see everything we to wanted but we did have a terrific time. Crossing the passes in the rain and mist was wonderfully atmospheric, and the waterfalls and becks (streams) and fells (hillsides) were unbelievable.

The Friday was Denise’s birthday and we celebrated in style by going to a restaurant of her choice for dinner; Thai of course.

Denise was getting over rushing becks by this time so Lesley went down to Aira Force Falls herself.

And again

Aira Force YouTube - Don't watch it all, move the time bar to about 2.15 and watch the bit that travels up the falls. There was much more water when we were there.

We do love the sheep around here.
Rare ewe and her lamb near Aira Force.
Notice the little lamb has horns, and it is NOT a goat!
Herdwick sheep which were bred by Beatrix Potter.
They are born black and get white over the years

and they are shaggy. Here is a lamb with a young mother.
