Day 15 - Padstow to Taunton

Tintagel was the first stop today. We wanted to go to Port Isaac which is where Doc Martin was filmed but it was incredibly busy and all the car parks were full so we continued up the coast. It was lovely and sunny and we had a great drive. We parked really handy to both the Old Post Office, and the walk to Tintagel Castle. The Post Office was originally a farmhouse and parts of it date from the 1300s. It's famous for its wavy roof.

The impressive steps at Tintagel Castle,
medieval home of the Dukes of Cornwall.

We didn't walk all the steps at Tintagel but we did manage a fair few of them. On a sunny morning the castle didn't look forbidding at all, but we guess it's a different story in stormy November.

Boscastle was our lunch stop. A village that has hardly changed in 400 years!

We continued to meander up the coast stopping for any views which is not easy in Cornwall as the roads are narrow and the hedges high. All you get is glimpses as you crest a rise or pass a gate. However we did come to one headland at Widemouth Bay.

At long last we needed to be in Taunton so we got on to a major road and shot back.
