Day 9 - The Levels, Somerset

Still raining. We organised our hire car today and did a little shopping. In the afternoon we went to the Willows & Wetlands Centre which is all about the draining of the Somerset Levels and the cane basket industry. It is amazing what used to be made of willow cane that is now made of plastic. It was a fairly cheap renewable resource and employed many people. We walked down to the levels, checked out a photographic exhibition on where we learnt about "egg shackling", wandered around the museum, and had lunch in the sunshine.

From there we went to a cider museum and tried some cider tasting. The heavens opened when we were here so we scuttled back to the car and back to Taunton to pick up our hire car, a Peugeot 107.

Later we went out for dinner with Marilyn and her daughter, Tracey.
