We arrived at Abu Dhabi at about 11.30 pm. However there were very few people actually getting off so we were through customs and being chauffeured to our hotel in no time.

This morning we had a wonderful private tour around Abu Dhabi. Kamahl, our guide, was Libyan and very entertaining.

First stop was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is breathtaking but totally over the top. We had to don an abaya, a long loose black robe and a sheyla, a headscarf.

Don't we look a sight!
Then we were taken to see a Heritage Village (traditional history, museum and arts & crafts), a 7 star hotel, the date market and the fish market. All fascinating.

Before We Leave

Pretty Village in Dorset
We're off in a few days to visit pretty villages, grand houses, beautiful gardens and ancient castles. The usual last minute rush is upon us (mainly checking if we have enough money!)

We're stopping off at Abu Dhabi on the way and arrive at Heathrow about midday. We'll stay in London for a few days then travel down to Somerset.

We can't promise how up to date we'll be able to keep the blog, but hopefully every few days we'll be able to post something. Keep checking in, and don't forget to leave comments.
